been busy...

I've been painting and surfing these past few days. I've been lazy to stay in the kitchen so I didn't really cook something special.

But yesterday morning when I went outside the house, and a cool breeze hit my face, I felt really nice! And right away, I felt like eating something soupy and hot.
Something that we, Filipinos, like to eat when the weather's nice or if it's raining.
So I made a pot of arroz caldo that morning.

And you know how the rice expands later on? I had to add more and more water until the rice really expands. And finally, my big pot is full of this good smelling, deliciously seasoned arroz caldo. The chicken's so tender, almost falling off its bones. I was done cooking at around 8:15 am.

Then, I had to give a bowl to my neighbors because it's too much for me and my family. That arroz caldo in my pot didn't last too long. It was gone before lunch time.

Going to the mall

Around May 2009, my family went to the Philippines for a vacation. We checked in this hotel at Shaw Blvd. Mandaluyong, close to my favorite mall. At about 8am everyday, my husband, 2 kids and my nanny would get ready to check out what they have for breakfast. If they serve bacon, they run out sooo fast. Sometimes, they serve food that's not supposed to be served for breakfast. In one corner, you'd see people lining up for the eggs. You have to tell the ladies how you want your eggs done. In fairness, those 2 ladies cooking eggs get your order done even if the line is long. I like going to that hotel's buffet breakfast, not mainly because of the food, but because I like to drink my hot tea looking out at the busy street of the city.
